About Me

I’m Jean Wright and I live in Surrey in the UK with my husband.  I’m lucky to have both my sons and their families living nearby and so can enjoy my grandsons growing up without travelling long distances.

I only really started ‘playing’ with beads eighteen months ago although my Mum did beading and jewellery repairs when I was a small child and I remember learning to count with some very brightly coloured beads when she was developing her creations.  My plan was just to make a few necklaces for myself but I’ve quickly become a total addict to this craft and regularly have small packages with all sorts of beady treasures coming through my post box.

I attended a few courses to find out ‘how’ but started to find my designs were getting very samey, I then discovered Art Bead Scene and their monthly challenges and taking part in these has really stretched my imagination and broadened my skills.  I remember reading in a blog (sorry I didn’t note where) that the best way to develop jewellery skills is to ensure that you make something every week.  I don’t quite achieve this but normally make about three pieces a month and certainly think my skills are improving.

I only make things for myself and family at the moment but this might change as my confidence grows.  I’ll keep you posted.
